All IU students can audition to join our Performance Ensembles

All students at Indiana University can try out for the African American Choral Ensemble, the African American Dance Company, and the IU Soul Revue—regardless of academic year or major.

The ensembles are courses offered through the Department of African American and African Diaspora Studies, so students earn academic credit while doing what they love.

Open auditions are held each semester. No previous formal training is required to audition.

- Wednesday, August 26, 2026, Time: 3:00 p.m. – 5:30 p.m.
Location: Neal-Marshall Black Culture Center, Grand Hall

*Please note: You must remain for the entire time as Individual vocal assessments will follow the class and continue until all participants are assessed.

African American Dance Company

Location: Neal- Marshall Black Culture Center, Grand Hall

Note: Auditions are one person at a time, on a first-come first-served basis. Please arrive at 6:45 p.m. to sign in and you will be given more information regarding your audition time. Please come prepared!

Ensemble Booking Request Form

Thank you for your interest in booking one or more of our ensembles: African American Choral Ensemble, African American Dance Company, and IU Soul Revue. Once the ensemble booking request form is completed and submitted, we will be in touch within five (5) business days.

Please note that our ensembles are available for booking during each academic year.
October through March. Booking requests should be made a minimum six (6) weeks before the performance.
Engagements outside of this time frame are subject to ensemble availability. To inquire about performances outside of this time period, contact directors at:
