Seeking students of all backgrounds who want to study and perform choral music made by, for, and about African Americans—spirituals, gospel, formally-composed works, and more.
There are two ways to audition to join the African American Choral Ensemble in Fall 2022:
Option 1: Attend In-Person Auditions

7:00–8:30 p.m.
Audition Location
Neal-Marshall Black Culture Center, Grand Hall
Audition Requirements
Prepare one piece to audition and plan to learn and perform a piece with the ensemble. You must remain for the entire time. No previous experience is required to audition. Instrumentalists must contact the director, Raymond Wise, at wiser@iu.edu.

Option 2: Submit a Video Audition
Submission Deadline
Monday, November 14, 2022 at 11:59 p.m. EST.
Video Instructions
- Learn your part of the song "I Opened My Mouth."
- Sing your part of the song in the video. Click here to download your part recording.
- Sing another song of your choice (1–2 minutes)
- You will submit your audition video by uploading to a Google Drive folder. You will receive access to the Google Drive folder after completing the registration form.
